The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) held a public hearing/consultation on the proposed policies, standards and guidelines (PSG) for Transnational Education (TNE). The program was held at the National Institute of Physics in UP Diliman on June 24, 2016.
Dr. Grace Javier Alfonso explained about the TNE Program of CHED. While Ms. Lilian S. Reventar presented the PSG on TNE memorandum from Articles I-V and Articles VI-XII was presented by Prof. Ninia I. Calaca. A copy of the draft memorandum order was given to the attendees of the program.
During the Open Forum held after the presentation, the attendees actively participated and shared their thoughts regarding TNE and the draft memorandum order.
UNESCO/Council of Europe Code of Good Practice in the Provision of Transnational Education defines TNE as including “all types of higher education study programmes, or sets of courses of study, or educational services (including those of distance education) in which the learners are located in a country different from the one where the awarding institution is based.”
