CHED Personnel and Technical Panel for Distance Education visited NEU Tuesday, September 28, 2010 to evaluate institutional capability, financial capacity and other administrative and curricular requirements pertinent to NEU’s application for Distance Education Program. The evaluating team was composed of Dr. Daniel M. Vistro, CHED Technical Panel TNE member; Dr. Samuel M. Salvador, also a technical panel TNE member; Dr. Sonia G. dela Cruz, Education Supervisor II; Dr. Lilian B. Enriquez, Chief of EPS-CHED-NCR; and Mr. Merlin N. Fabricante, CHED-OPS member. The NEU Distance Education Program was led by Dr. Corazon C. Osorio, University President; Dr. Albert R. Domingo, University Vice-President; and Dr. Gabby G. Malonzo, Distance Education Program Director.
Should the school administration comply with all the administrative, financial, and curricular requirements set by the CHED before October, NEU’s Distance Education Program, which will be named Vantage Education Management or VEM, will conduct series of rigid training for the school stakeholders in preparation for the official opening of classes.
The Distance Education Program was conceived for the benefit of the Iglesia ni Cristo members distributed around the world, primarily the children of the Ministers of the Gospel who are assigned overseas and cannot gain access to college education in their respective countries of assignment due to mobility and high cost of college education. Second, VEM enables all interested students to gain access to quality Christian education by the use of online learning and video conferencing capabilities of the New Era University.
